Master of Public Health (MPH)

Fully approved by the CEPH, the Master of Public Health (MPH) program at LSU Shreveport is designed to prepare graduate students for a smooth transition into practitioner roles within various public health settings. Within the 48-credit curriculum, students master the professional competencies of all five core areas of public health, including epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, health services management, and social/behavioral health. MPH students are required to complete at least 200 hours of applied practicum in an approved agency. Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH)

Taking a more scientific, inquiry-based approach, the Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) program was created by Tulane University to provide graduate students with the preparation needed to enter public health practice and/or research. Featuring a dynamic 42-credit curriculum, the program gives students the valuable chance to concentrate in Biostatistics, Global Environmental Health Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, or Tropical Medicine based on their interests. MSPH students are still must complete 200 hours of practicum, but they’re more heavily involved in research and data analysis through clinical trials. Freeman School of Business, the Master of Business Administration/Master of Health Administration (MBA/MHA) program is available to provide Tulane students with an accelerated joint degree option in healthcare management. Students will begin by completing one full year of business core to better understand topics like statistics, financial management, marketing, economics, communications, process modeling, and strategic planning. The second year is devoted to the MHA curriculum to foster mastery of the managerial skills specifically required in healthcare leadership. The final third year brings the two degrees together with a 950-hour administrative residency and applied culminating project. Dual degree students must have at least 48 credits of business and 45 credits of health administration coursework for completion.
